Middle/High School STEM
A Design and Technology Project Based Learning Lab introduces students to the concepts of engineering design and the basic principles of technological systems such as sensors and control systems. The range of student project areas is extensive and integrates research, discussion, modelling, simulation, practical design and testing.
As part of our STEM career pathways program, our Design & Technology is a project-based learning program.
It allows students to explore how science, technology, engineering, and math concepts are applied in a wide range of different career clusters not just in STEM, but also in manufacturing, energy, agriculture, health, transport and logistics, and Information technology.
A Design and Technology Project Based Learning Lab introduces students to the concepts of engineering design and the basic principles of technological systems such as sensors and control systems. The range of student project areas is extensive and integrates research, discussion, modelling, simulation, practical design and testing.
Each project is tied to a career pathway, and instruction includes information about related college requirements and all levels of careers. The program is extremely flexible for implementation and can be used across five grade levels - six through ten.

The project-based nature of the program gives students the opportunity to:
-
Learn, develop and apply academic skills and knowledge.
-
Gain a foundation in STEM-based career pathways.
-
Develop necessary skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, self-paced learning, and computational thinking.

Mechatronics Program: FAQs
A sample D&T Projects Lab configuration could include the following resources:
230-01
The Biomedical Technology Kit contains everything you need for a classroom-based resource to investigate germs, the spread of disease, and the purpose of vaccination. The kit includes germ simulation lotion that can be used to investigate the importance of hand washing and sanitation.
220-01
The Engineering Kit is a classroom-based resource for investigating designing, building and programming robotic and automated machinery in a range of areas of technology. These areas include engineering design, agricultural technology, medical technology, mechatronics, industrial robotics, mobile robotics and transportation technology.
140-10
The Basic Electricity Trainer is a rugged, self-contained hardware unit that enables students to investigate practically a range of electrical components and simple circuits.
250-01
ERIK provides students with an environment that motivates them to learn abstract computer science concepts in a bid to solve practical problems with physical outcomes. The combination of engineering and programming creates a dynamic environment that helps students develop problem-solving skills that involve mathematics, engineering, science and logic.
278-01
The Fluid Power Resource Pack offers a classroom based resource for practical investigation of fundamental hydraulic concepts. The pack consists of a variety of syringes and connectors neatly contained in a plastic storage box.
122-01
This package offers a resource that puts a model house into the classroom. Users can investigate lighting technologies, insulation properties, glazing, and air-conditioning, in addition to green energy production and related topics. The interface software displays in real time the energy consumption in the building, as well as key data such as temperatures and light levels.
100-01
The Sustainable Energy Production Hardware Pack offers a set of demonstrator based resources for practical investigation of alternative energy production techniques. The pack consists of the following demonstrators:
450-00
The Electronic Circuits hardware and resource packs can be used for class demonstrations as well as offering student activities either individually or in small groups. The equipment included will quickly turn any classroom into an electronics laboratory.
121-01
The Structures and Materials package offers student activities either individually or in small groups, to investigate the science and technology behind the built environment.
350-01
The Injection Molding Trainer offers a classroom-based resource for investigating the techniques used to create thermo-plastic products. Students initially use the trainer to mold a variety of items, including a model car and different designs of door handles.
State Standards-Based Labs
At LJ Create, our content exists because you need to teach it. Our content creators have all been in the teaching profession, and understand the challenges in the field. We create hardware and software solutions built to meet specific standards that you teach in the classroom, so your students can be prepared for state testing and industry certification tests.
To meet the demanding needs of today’s classroom, our content is updated as your teaching standards change, so you won’t have to worry about the mapping.
Here is a sampling of the standards that we currently use to build our programs:
-
ASE Education Foundation standards for MLR, AST, & MAST
-
Electronics Technicians Association - Student Electronics Technician (ETA - SET)
-
ITEEA - Engineering, Technology, and Science Standards
-
ITEEA - Standards for Technological Literacy
-
Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
-
Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS)
-
Ohio’s New Learning Standards
-
REC Foundation - Pre-Engineering
-
REC Foundation - Robotics

zSpace in K12 Education
zSpace applications engage students in standards-based learning experiences that align with the curriculum. Students construct knowledge and understanding of concepts across multiple curriculum areas with a strong focus on STEM subjects.
Learning with zSpace
zSpace provides experiences and the medium to support instruction and students’ learning and curiosity. Students learn by asking questions, gathering information, developing models, testing ideas, analyzing data, and developing conclusions. Teachers facilitate learning by setting up tools and resources that help students through the lesson.

zSpace Learning Applications
"Every time I visit a zSpace class, the kids are 100 percent engaged, they absolutely love it and they can’t wait to get a visitor’s attention and share what they are doing."
